Michael Stearns, MD Chosen to Join the National Medical Safety Board

Dr. Michael Stearns has been selected to join the National Medical Safety Board, an organization formed by the Patient Safety Organization Services (PSO) Group, LLC., in 2012.  The PSO Services Group is a Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) AHRQ listed National Patient Safety Organization (PSO).  The National Medical Safety Board (NMSBSM) was designed to take advantages of the improvements in patient safety demonstrated through the processes and procedures employed by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). 

“The NMSBSM board is comprised of nine carefully selected individuals, representing Healthcare Administration; Surgery; Nursing; Medical Devices; Electronic Health Records/HIT; Quality Management; Medication; and Risk Management. The former General Counsel of the NTSB and the AHRQ Office of Civil Rights (OCR) will be consulted for compliance with the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act.”

Michael Stearns, MD, CPC was chosen to be on this board based on his extensive track record of involvement in patient safety initiatives tied to the use of electronic medical records.
